GPR used for Subsurface Locate in Las Vegas

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, LLC. of Las Vegas, Nevada was recently contracted out by a local general contractor to scan a concrete slab prior to cutting the slab. The plumbing contractor on this job site needed to cut the slab to add some new underground plumbing for this tenant improvement project. Prior to them cutting the floor they wanted to verify that there were no utilities underneath or within the slab that would be affected by the cutting of the concrete. It is a good thing they call GPRS to investigate this slab prior to cutting it or they would have cut through a bunch of electrical conduits that were sitting just below the slab on the subgrade. The picture indicates the live electrical conduits that were located in red paint. By having this area scanned ahead of time they were able to avoid additional cost to repair all of these conduits and limit the risk of getting someone electrocuted. The plumbers were able to move their trench line out a little further from the wall so they could avoid hitting all of these conduits. Make sure you call GPRS if you are on a project like the one described above.

Ground Penetrating Radar is ideal on a busy construction site as well as a place of occupancy. GPR does not require evacuation of the area, unlike traditional x-ray concrete imaging. GPR emits zero radiation and is completely safe to be around. Traditional x-ray is mostly done after hours; GPR can be done during normal business hours. All data findings are marked directly on the surface at the customer’s request for the easiest interpretation of the scanning provided. With GPR there is no wait for developing films as with traditional x-ray. Only one side of the slab is needed for scanning so time and resources are much more ideal for tight schedules of projects. Ground Penetrating Radar is the new way to x-ray!
